Courses – Preventing Catastrophe Workshop

Overview

We have scheduled a two day workshop on Preventing Catastrophe for the University of Calgary, Continuing Education, on June 8-9, 2011. Our design will be greatly informed by the Preventing Catastrophe research project that will be completed in the first quarter of 2011 but we are able to show a general outline of the workshop. This will be updated as our research findings are published.

Workshop Objectives

Participants will learn and work with tools and methods to help identify specific actions to prevent catastrophe in high value / high risk situations.

  • Building preventive thinking into organizational and team culture
  • Achieving exceptional performance while managing risk

Who Will Benefit

The workshop is designed for people whose decisions could open the pathway to catastrophe. These are people who set the template for organizational and team culture; lead operations and projects; make key decisions on technical matters; and contribute to key team decisions.

Work on Real Issues

Participants will use our tools during the workshop to assess the potential for catastrophe and reduce its likelihood in real projects and operations in their organizations.
