Team Leader Skills
National Energy Board - Regulatory Agency[1997]
Objectives

In 1996 and 1997, the National Energy Board of Canada (NEB) completed a major reorganization of its management and service delivery structure. A new Executive Team was formed and Business Unit Team Leaders appointed. The intention of the reorganization was to transform the service delivery of the NEB. For this to happen, the new leaders knew they had to lead in a much different manner.
Fall Line’s Role
Fall Line Systems led a four day workshop for the NEB’s top 30 leaders to explore their current strengths as leaders, the new expectations, and skills for implementing the vision. Each leader worked with feedback from a leadership skill inventory, leadership teams worked out ground rules and decision structures, and all participants committed to specific action to implement the vision in a positive manner.
Results
Team Leaders moved quickly into their new roles, and most people had success right away. The few who struggled with their new roles received solid support from the others. In follow up sessions, the Team Leaders were very pleased with the implementation and were quickly able to identify solutions to high priority issues for keeping up the momentum.
